Toy slide for baby pool?

I have one of those plastic side pools with the tarp like bottom (that could probably tear) but I want to use our kiddie plastic slide for my daughter when swimming without ripping the bottom. Do you think placing the bottom of the slide on a towel would work? I would just try it but don't want to risk the chance on ripping the bottom. Any ideas?
