Can the smell of dry erase markers give you the hiccups?

During my English cl, we were using dry erase markers to write on our boards during a game of Jeopardy. The markers were really smelly and gave me a headache. During the end of our session with the markers, I got the hiccups. Then it lasted half of the next period. Is it possible that the smell of dry erase markers made my case of hiccups happen?
