Stress Relievers? PLEASE HELP!?

My boyfriend and I have been dating for 4 years and he grew up in a very low income family. His parents and brother are chain smokers, he told me he would never smoke and that its disgusting. He always strives to be better then them. He joined the army and recently got back from basic training in august. Two weeks later he found out he's deploying to Afghanistan on Nov. 10th of this year. I've caught him about 8 times smoking a cigarette when he was home on leave and he wants to stop but he said it relieves his stress... He doesn't know what to do to or how to redirect his stress. Please I need help. Im asthmatic and I couldn't live with a smoker, (we plan on getting engaged when he comes home next november) I need really good stress relievers that he can do while he's deployed. Please and thanks.
